My name is Elizabeth Leal. I am the new Assistant Principal at Santa Teresa Middle School.
I have been part of the GISD community for 20 years. I have served 5 years as an administrator at both Santa Teresa Elementary and Sunrise Elementary and 15 years as a Create Media teacher at Gadsden High School and Gadsden Middle School.
I hold a Masters degree in Business Administration and a second Masters degree in Education Administration. Prior to becoming an educator, I was an accountant in the private sector. I am originally from the Valley and am a graduate of Gadsden High School.
I enjoy being outdoors and especially like hiking, paddleboarding, and golfing. I am an avid reader and enjoy a dabbling in technology. I have a 22-year old son, who is currently attending college.
I look forward to returning to my secondary school roots and hope to make a positive impact within our school and community.

A Message from Our New Assistant Principal, Damian Flavian
It is with tremendous excitement and commitment that I introduce myself as the new Assistant Principal of Santa Teresa Middle School. My connection to the Gadsden Independent School District runs deep, spanning over 25 years in roles including teacher, administrator, and instructional coach. I am proud to say that I am not new to the STMS community; I previously served as the Instructional Coach here at the middle school from 2007 to 2014. More recently, I had the privilege of working as the Instructional Coach at Santa Teresa Elementary School. As a resident of Santa Teresa myself, I am personally and professionally invested in the success of our students and intimately familiar with the unique strengths of this community.
My professional focus is firmly rooted in the belief that strong relationships are the foundation of effective education. I look forward to building deep connections with our students, staff, and families, ensuring that every member of our school community feels valued and supported. Coupled with my extensive background in curriculum and instruction, I am fully committed to enhancing the learning environment and upholding the tradition of excellence at Santa Teresa Middle School.
